Health and Safety
If you aim to project manage your own building project then it’s vital that you consider the health and safety elements of the construction as accidents on site can end up costing you. However, Milbarn Construction will always assign an experienced project manager to oversee construction.
With HSE estimating that costs of accidents resulting in injuries costing up to £10.2 billion and non-reportable injuries costing around £216 million, managing the entire process efficiently will ensure that your project is a successful one. We don’t want accidents on site so our expert team always follow strict protocol when it comes to the safety of everybody on site.
Pre-Construction – Planning New Homes and Extensions in Essex
You need to ensure that you communicate all of your requirements to your designers, builders and contractors. As well as your design and requirements we will always consider:
- If asbestos is present
- Survey information
- Drawings from architects and your ideas
- Records of existing properties or new plots
- Site rules should we be refurbishing or creating new builds
- Building Permission
- Environmental constraints
- Restrictions such as listed buildings or protected trees
- Health and safety files
- Building regulations
From the outset, building regulations are essential so it’s important to know when approval is required. We work closely with the Essex authorities when we have to.
Construction Period
In the construction phase the performance needs to be constantly monitored. As we work we ensure that we manage every stage, maintain a fire strategy and maintain the site as well as concentrating on the health and safety of all who are working, or who may visit the site.
Whether we are carrying out repairs and refurbishments, new builds, extensions, demolitions or home improvements we make sure that our priority is to communicate with you at every stage and project manage the entire construction from the outset.
We’ll comply strictly with building regulations and the relevant legislation that we have to follow, and we will keep the build on track as we go. We always aim to complete to deadline, sometimes completing projects early. Milbarn Construction will involve you at every part of the process and during construction will keep you updated with the progress we are making, as well as any issues we come across that need to be resolved.
Post Construction – New Homes, Refurbishment and Home Improvement in Essex
We will complete on deadline should there be no restraints such as building regulation or environmental issues, and of course if the weather does not allow us to work at our usual speed. You may wish to project manage your own new build or extension, however we will always place a project manager on site to ensure that we are on track.
The specifics of every build are important and you will benefit from our experience and knowledge in how to best perform when we design, construct and hand over the finished project for you to sign off.
When we complete we know that it will have been a successful project and that you, as the property or home owner, will be pleased with a perfect finished building, extension or refurbished building.
