Peter – Landscaper / Ground worker
Peter is an exceptionally experienced ground worker. He has dedicated his life to a career involving all aspects of groundwork, including foundations, underpinning, excavations, sheet piling and drainage (to name a few) as well as hard and soft landscaping that include all aspects of garden design, patios, water features, paving, driveways, road making etc. He is also a very experienced machine operator.
He has a deep knowledge of his trade, and with over 50 years under his belt, he enables Milbarn Construction to take on vast, complex projects, as well as tentative projects that require design, thought and detail. Refusing to retire, Peter lives to work, and thoroughly enjoys every day. The pride he takes in his work is ever present in the high quality finish he always delivers. Peter is a true asset to Milbarn Construction.

Daniel – Landscaper / Ground worker
Daniel has been working with Peter from a young age, learning the skills his father has passed onto him, skills that a college can’t teach. Once he had completed school, he started working with Peter full time and his knowledge and experience has grown from strength to strength. 17 years on, they still both work together, and Daniel has gained a skill set that most landscapers / ground workers take a lifetime to accumulate. Daniel is a dedicated, experienced, individual, who takes pride in his work, with high quality, professionalism and customer satisfaction placed before anything else.

Sean – Paving and Landscaping

Sean has worked with Milbarn for over 15 years. He is a specialist in driveway and patio finishes, with vast experience in Sandstone, Limestone, Granite as well as all of the block paving family. He has dealt with, and laid, nearly every product available on the market over his 30-year career. With Sean’s expertise and experience at our fingertips, Milbarn has designed and completed work for clients over the years that has transformed the external elevations of their properties.

Russell - General Builder / Plasterer
With 45 years in the building industry, Russell is our most experienced, time served tradesman. Having worked with every trade in the building industry, Russell can competently and efficiently turn his hand to all aspects of the building trade.  He’s vast knowledge and experience allow us to surpass all of our client’s expectations whilst carrying out their project. Russell’s forward thinking, positive attitude makes him an asset to Milbarn Construction.

James H – General Builder / Plasterer
Having worked alongside Russell for 16 years, James has been taught by our most experienced tradesman and is capable of a huge range of tasks. He is also a fully qualified plasterer and renderer who has previously carried out a wide range of specialist projects in and throughout London, including various well known museums.  

Alex – General Builder / Plumber
Alex started off with us from school whilst carrying out a plumbing apprenticeship. Since then he has not only become a fully qualified plumber, but also a qualified lead worker. Along the way he has also dedicated himself in gaining a wide range of general skills throughout the building spectrum, mainly in Carpentry. His keen eye and attention to detail makes him an essential asset to our team. 

Paul – Roofer
One of the newest assets to our growing team, Paul is a time served roofer who specialises in all aspects of roofing. He is a trained specialist in the installation of EPDM products, as well as the traditional felt roofing. He is also an exceptional roof tiler, and has carried out various jobs for us, exceeding all of our client’s expectations.

James W - General Builder / Roofer
With 32 years in the building industry, James’s knowledge allows him to carry out a wide range of tasks to a very high standard. His expertise has allowed Milbarn Construction to competently and efficiently take on projects over the years that deliver above and beyond our client’s expectations. Specialising in roofing, James is also a fully qualified lead worker and a fully qualified, time served bricklayer.

Mark - Bricklayer
With over 30 years in the industry, Mark is a highly experienced, time served bricklayer who has experienced all aspects of the brickwork trade since his early years, ranging from intricate garden walls to prestigious new builds. Marks efficiency, attention to detail and knowledge makes him an asset to us.

Micky – Bricklayer
Having completed his apprenticeship in the early 80’s, Mick has been bricklaying since. His achievements have also gained him a “gold trowel award” in his early days! Mick is a very conscientious, tidy tradesman who specialises in detailed, complex work. Mick also specialises in all aspects of re-pointing.

Michael - Plasterer and Renderer
Micky has been plastering and rendering for over 20 years. He is an experienced, time served tradesman who can competently and efficiently take on all aspects of his trade. He is a hard working individual who is able to give an exceptional finish to all coverings. He can also work with Artex, Coving and Decorative pargeting.

Jack – Plasterer and Renderer
Jack and his team are very experienced plasterers and renderers. They specialise in various external finishes including Monocouche, K-rend and silicone render, as well as carrying out the traditional sand and cement render. Jack’s tidiness, skill and dedication to his trade allows us to competently bring him in to our jobs to efficiently turn the interior from plasterboard to smooth plaster, ready for our decorators.

Keith - Electrician
Keith is a fully qualified, time served electrician who holds every qualification available to him in the electrical sector. Carrying out his apprenticeship in the early 80’s with the national grid, he worked there for approximately 15 years before starting a small business catering for a select few local builders and residential clients. Over the years, Keith has carried out some complex electrical installations for us, as well as quickly and efficiently rectifying faults on various projects where the existing wiring has been defective. Keith is an NIC EIC, part p approved commercial and residential installer.

Tony - Gas Safe Plumber
Tony is a fully qualified, registered gas safe installer whom has over 15 years in the gas industry. Tony is able to undertake (and certify) a vast range of gas engineering installations, including complex, multiple gas runs and live connections, as wells as specialising in gun-barrel steel work. Tony’s reliability, experience and high work quality mean he is an asset to Milbarn Construction.

Daniel - Heating Engineer
Daniel is a very capable and knowledgeable heating engineer, specialising in renewable energy and large, complex systems. From a family who own one of the uk’s leading underfloor heating supply and installation companies, Daniel’s natural ability, knowledge and experience allows him to undertake and complete jobs on any scale, from a standard installation to exceptionally complex projects that would leave the most experienced plumbers dumbfounded.

Robert and Francis - Window Fitters
Rob and Francis have been in the window/door industry for over 20 years. With the benefit of Rob owning a FENSA approved manufacturing company, he is able to construct high quality upvc and metal products for all of our projects. They also produce various bespoke and unique units when needed, as well as offering a matching service that can replicate any design of window or door that currently exists, especially useful if we are carrying out an extension and want to match the new windows with the existing in the property. All of his products are personally installed by Rob and Francis to a high standard.

Spencer and Omar – Carpenters
Each with 20 years in the industry, Spencer and Omar are fully qualified, experienced carpenters. Working together or alone, they each bring their own unique skills to the table allowing Milbarn Construction to offer a full, complete carpentry service to our clients. Whether a hand cut hipped roof is required, internal 2nd fix work or maybe a new kitchen needs to be installed, our carpenters are able to complete all work to an exceptional standard.

Paul – Carpenter / Kitchen fitter
Having been head hunted by some of the most prestigious developers over the years, Paul is a highly experienced Carpenter and Joiner, with over 20 years under his belt. He specialises in Kitchen installations and 2nd fix wood work. His attentiveness and a keen eye for detail has allowed Milbarn to offer bespoke carpentry and joinery services that most building companies would struggle to meet.

Simon – Cabinet maker / Joiner
Simon is a fully qualified, time served cabinet maker and joiner, who can make pretty much anything from wood. Working independently to us, we engage with him on a regular basis to design and hand make oak staircases, kitchens, plus anything else that our client requests. All of the oak staircases you see in our photos have been made by Simon, as well as various doors and windows, amongst other joinery. Having worked closely with Simon for well over 10 years now, we really can offer our clients a unique and personal touch when it comes to joinery in their home.

Ivan – Painter and Decorator
Ivan has been with us for nearly 3 years now. With over 25 years’ experience in decoration, Ivan transforms our client’s properties from a plastered shell, into the sharply finished, warm home you have always wanted. His knowledge of the various manufacturers, colours and finishes available, allow us to offer our clients a vast array of options when it come to the decoration of their property, whether its inside or out.  

Michael – Painter and Decorator
With 25 years under his belt, Michael has only ever carried out decoration work. His father was a painter and decorator and taught him everything he knows. He is a time served, fully pledged painter and decorator with an enormous range of skills and knowledge. Whether you a looking for a general freshen up, wall paper to be tentatively hung, or intricate areas painted and cut in, Michael allows us to be able to offer our clients services in all aspects of painting and decoration work.

Andrew – Security, intercom and CCTV
We use Andrew on a regular basis when our clients request security and CCTV systems. Andrew sub contracts for a select few, well established companies, including our own, offering a wealth of knowledge and a vast selection of high quality products.

General Labourers
Throughout most of our projects, you will see our skilled labourers keeping your jobs tidy, aiding our tradesmen and generally helping to keep the jobs running smoothly. Our labourer’s daily tasks also include keeping our yard clean, tidy and organised so that all the correct materials and tools end up on the correct job at the correct times. Without our labourers, we wouldn’t be able to carry out your projects efficiently.

Neil – Architect
Neil is a fully qualified, registered Architect, who has worked alongside Milbarn, almost since the start, on various projects be it small or large. He has designed numerous loft conversions, extensions, new builds and flats for us and our clients with the most pleasing of results. Neil doesn’t only bring flawless designs and unique options to the table, his vast knowledge of the local areas and planning procedures, allows us to maximise your property to its full potential. Neil works with us from beginning to end, ensuring that the design of your project meets your every need.  

Jenny – Office management
Jenny deals with the administrative side of the company. She is a friendly, knowledgeable partner in the business who’s daily tasks include answering the calls and responding to all of the enquiries that come in. On contact, she will discuss with you your requirements and book you in for a consultation with Nick at a time and date that best suits you. Jenny is also responsible for organising the day to day structure of the team, allowing our clients jobs to run as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. 

Nick Barnes – Founder
Nick started in the building industry straight from school, working for a landscaping company part time whilst at college gaining a National diploma in the built environment. He then went back to college to gain an NVQ level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery. Working as a subcontractor for various building companies, he deciding to go it alone and offer his services to the residential sector. Milbarn Construction was established, specialising in Carpentry and Joinery. After becoming busier, working in excess of 80 hours a week, Nick started to slowly expand, taking on trusted people which then allowed him to take on more work. As time went on, the demand for high quality ‘general’ building work was constantly being required by many of his clients. Having built up friendships with a wide range of highly skilled tradesman, Nick decided to bring them all under one roof, offering a company to clients that has the skills needed to professionally build, restore and maintain properties to the highest of standards, whilst providing a friendly, personal relationship with clients.
