We have a range of methods in dealing with the supporting of the above chimney if not all of it is removed, the most common method being with Gallows Brackets. We have these handmade specifically to suit each individual application to guarantee a lifetime of strength. Picking the cheapest option from the range of builders merchants out there just isn’t an option for us. We deliberately over calculate when designing the bracket to give maximum strength. All brackets are resin fixed and anchored to the wall.

In cases where a lintel needs to be used where there is minimal space between the floor boards, we have also used various methods to obtain the best results. Certainly in nearly all cases the floor joists need to be strengthened, so a metal beam can be secured in place and bolted to them. In other cases a flitch beam is used, which is comprised of 2 sections of timber bolted together with a steel plate encased between them, the metal plate usually being between 10mm – 14mm thick. It really varies on the property.
